It loads up fine, you can use the sat view and the Street View, but if I type in a location in the search box, it complains that I don't have a connection to the Internet, or the server is down. I'm on Plusnet. Anyone else got a problem with search?

Do you mean Google Maps, not Google Earth?
Andy Burns laid this down on his screen :
No - Google Earth's search, where you can type in the name of a place, an address, or a postcode - is not working. It is doing everything else you would expect, apart from search for a place.
I am amazed it is still working. I thought they had ceased support years ago.
Is this in the local application version of google earth, or in a web browser?
What happens if you go to maps.google.com on the web?
John Rumm laid this down on his screen :
The local app, GoogleEarth Pro on Win10
If I start typing, for instance Brescia (Italy) - it will offer various places in Brescia as a popup below, but if I then click any of them - It suggests there is no Internet, or the server is down.
That seems to work fine.
Don't get any offered places with 7.3.4.8573 (64-bit) on Win7
I get a map of Brescia
Maybe it's working for you now?
Just searched for Brescia, Italy on Google Earth pro and it zoomed in and did everything as normal. (Google Earth Pro v 7.3.4.8573, Win 8.1, Chrome v.100.0.4896.127, Plusnet broadband.)

Forgot I even had Google Earth installed or I'd have tested it earlier, yes working for me here too ...
It does have a slightly odd behaviour - but not showing any internet problem. For example if I search for "southend", It prompts with a number of options. Say I then click "Southend Airport", it does not go there, but instead populates the search box with "Southend Airport (SEN), Eastwoodbury Crescent, Southend-on-Sea". If I click search on that, only then does it centre the map on it.
(if I type Bresica into the search box and ignore the popup suggestions including "Bresica, Italy", when I click search it goes straight there since it is an exact name match)
What version are you running? I have
Google Earth Pro
7.3.4.8573 (64-bit) Build DateThursday, March 24, 2022 2:51:46 AM UTC
John Rumm formulated the question :
Brescia was just and example, the same happens on all searches.
The same - 7.3.4.8573 (64-bit)
Nope, still the same.. Worked fine last time I used it a few weeks ago.
That was the other question, might it be a Plusnet issue. Obviously not.
I only mention it since it shows you get different behaviour if the thing you search for is an exact match to a place.
Try a reinstall perhaps?
Mine wasn't working - no network, same as you. Try this:

First suggestion (Repair etc.) worked for me.
John Rumm formulated the question :
I tried a new download and reinstall yesterday, over the top. I could maybe try a delete and reinstall.
My version works ok on Windows server standard 2019 (Win10)
Googleearth 7.3.2.5495 (64-bit)

OpenGL
Microsoft Windows (6.2.9200.0)
Intel (00010.00018.00010.03345)

Thanks Rob that fixed it, or at least using the reset didn't, but then adding 'clear the cache' did, or maybe both.
