France commits economic suicide.

Which, bearing in mind that a lot of western Europe draws heavily on France's nuclear-generated electricity*, means problems for us all, especially in winter during a 'blocking high'.

Yes -

Now's the time to cover the UK in nukes and uprate all our continental links. If we cannot do anything else, we could become the power supply to northern europe.

But that would require the gov to grow a pair, so it won't happen.

regulators and rest of EU trying their best to stop it or delay it till its impossibly expensive.

An interconnector to Norway is already being planned*. Virtually all Norway's electricity is hydroelectric and 'green'. Whether there's enough to go round ATM, is another matter. But Norway is alert to the possibility of being a power-house for Europe, with the financial benefits that would accrue, and is almost certainly considering increasing its hydroelectric capacity and adding pumped storage, which it doesn't have ATM.

Well, I told you so.

Even the dopey Frogs have finally realised the cost of nuclear power. They still have the cost of disposing of massive stockpiles of nuclear waste. Nuclear power never was economic and never will be.

There's a few of the brain dead here can't see this either. Including TurNiP. Nuclear power was just the excuse for nuclear weapons.

Hah and electricity was going to be too cheap to be worth metering! The French taxpayer will be picking up the tab for decades. Unless they find some way of getting us to help finance it via the EUSSR. THAT wouldn't surprise me.

Only the brain dead would think of such a thing.

They're f***ed because of socialism and the EUSSR. And the nuclear power debacle/cleanup/decommissioning will help ensure they stay f***ed. For a long while anyway.

The whole of the EUSSR will be the next Greece, which is why we need to be out of it.

They've finally seen the light. Being exceptionally stupid it has taken a while and it will still cost billions in decommissioning and disposal of the nuclear waste and power stations. (But that would have happened anyway.)

But at least they will cease adding to the nuclear waste already piled up. Meanwhile our government is bent on still going ahead with this obsolete, dangerous and expensive technology to be built in a tsunami zone and in a populated area. Talk about brain dead.

Now seeing that France does supply a decent amount of power to other countries inc the UK and Germany..

So where is that shortfall of power to be made up from?.

Sensible answers please;!.....

Germany can and will export power generated from brown coal burning. France won't need as much once industry has moved out to places with reliable power. China will be happy to oblige.
