I have just improved the reception of Dads old Roberts Gemini RD-20 FM/Dab radio by removing the telescopic aerial and connecting it to my loft-mounted FM aerial (mounted at 45 degrees and pointing to Rowridge).
The tele aerial has an F plug connector but is deeply inset into a plastic hole in the back case with almost no space to get a deep socket or similar into it.
Eventually I used some long nosed electrical pliers but boy-o-boy was it tight. How they fitted that in the factory I don't know.
I have finally fitted a short flying lead of cheapo (= more flexible) coax with an F plug on one end and a normal FM plug on the other, but getting the F plug to engage with the thread took ages.
Does anyone make F plugs intended for inset holes like this ?. I tried Google but didn't find anything.
It's a pity that it doesn't have a line-in socket because it would make quite a decent 'soundbar' for the TV, having stereo speakers, plus treble and bass adjustments.
