Email to wrong address

I have finger slipped more than once since email was invented but not like this:

I needed to print some monthly bank ststements from my Starling account. I can only do this from a cellphone.

The process requires me to select a month, generate a pdf file and attach to an email and send it to myself.

From my computer I download the emails, eaxch with a single pdf and print its attachment.

I sent six in all. They all arrived.

But I was surprised to receive an email from the treasurer of an organisation that i belong to saying "I assume this (one if the pdfs) was sent to me in error".

The mistake could only have been made when selecting the outgoing email address.

The thing is mine starts with "a" and his starts with "t", so not adjacent in the "contacts" list.

Has anyone any idea what might have happened?

If they arrived with you as well, did you use an address with a auto forward activated?

I have never seen an "auto forwarded option anywhere" but I checked anyway. No my phone doesn't offer that option.

What's the second letter of each?

The second letters are "l" and "r".

Alan (an older one).

Could a auto forward be on the machine that received the email rather than on the machine used for requesting the email from a third party?

first thing to do is look at headers in the email in your "sent" folder.

See if the "wrong" address appears tagged as To:, Cc:, or Bcc

I have gone back to all the messages related to this affair and none of them were tagged Cc or a Bcc.

It is weird.

Alan

All the messages just had a one pdf attachment and were addressed to one of my own email addresses, sent from my cellphone and downloaded on my computer so that the pdfs could be printed.

Auto forwarding is not enabled anywhere.
