Well, we'll see. I have invested 99p in the Chinese economy for silver-based and a bit more in the British for 10 times the amount of the carbon type.
I will report back after the fun and after the long distance one arrives. I can always fall back on the tagged versions when it fails.

You do realise that the carbon and silver types are more paint than glue? In other words, fine for making electrical connections but not great for mechanical ones. I don't think it'll be robust.
I think the PCB cells are the way to go...

Yes silver DAG is silver. I was just explaining about the original DAG. "DAG" on its own is pretty much a generic term for a colloidal suspension of graphite, usually in water although it can also be in organic solvents.

No it takes a bit more effort than that. Add lumps on top of the wires so the heatshrink is pressing them down, and maybe add a cable tie for greater pressure. You won't get a reliable contact by just poking wire under the heatshrink.

That was my first thought as well. However in this application it's for a clock backup battery, where the current is microamps. Even if the resistance is kilohms it should be fine for that.

We use this for certain thing, a bit expensive and it's kept in the firdge lasts about 6 months of so.
but at £50 for 14 grams !

True but the advantage of the silver is low conductivity which you don;t ge t with carbon as we use that too but the resistance is too high for many of the applications. We also have conducting thread and using a silver paint in a printer for printing conducive tracts on materail, each method as it's advantages and disadvantages.

Silver has high conductivity. That's unlikely to be needed for a bios batte ry. I still wouldn't recommend glue anyway.

Yes that's partly the point. if you used the carbon stuff which is usally m ore like a paint than a glue the resistance will be higher perhaps up to 10
0R or more, not that is should matter for a bios battery but it won't stick it in place like a glue would.

Niether would I unless asked what glue to use in such a situtation, I'd mos t likely try bending the contacts together or like I've done with torches u se aluminium foil folded over to wedge inbetween the battery contact and th e holder contacts.
I wouldn't solder to a battery either unless it was one of those with solde r tags.

Long ago, ISTR, I used a melange of brass filings in Araldite; it worked we ll, both in strength and conductance.
It would be easy enough, if you have some brass and a file, to test that id ea using some ordinary glue, such as UHU.
Alternatively, if there is room, you could try a readily-available AA or AA A battery holder, and pad the length with a bit of brass rod - or maybe eve n with a pencil-stub bluntly sharpened at both ends - or a stick with a bit of bare wire wrapped round it longitudinally. If you lack suitable trees nearby, the cheapest stick may be a piece of macaroni (uncooked).
Or a mini-clothespeg with wire wrapped round each jaw, and glued in place o n the outside. Or a bit of spine-bar, as sold by stationers for converting a small stack of A4 pages into a book, using clenched drawing-pins or sawn
-off tin-tacks as contacts.
