DIY Government

The widespread communication and public enlightenment available today by means of the Internet, a facility unheard of and inconceivable only a few decades ago, suggests that government by 600 or so self-seeking charlatans ***** is out of date.

The Black Lives Matter campaign is democracy at work, and where the racists of history are being decried, as was Edward Colston in Bristol yesterday, perhaps that wrath should be extended to the racist Norman Invaders of this country and their descendant spawn because of their history of trampling down on the Saxons over centuries and their pogroms against the Jews.

High time that the Norman families still sitting in the House of so-called Lords as hereditary peers were done away with.

High time that the tenants of the Duchies of Cornwall and Lancaster were given the properties that they rent,

***** Charlatans? Certainly, for they scrabble and promise things they never come up with to the electorate in order to get into the mother f***er of parliaments and when they get there they swear allegiance, not to the people of the country, but to the descendant spawn of the Norman invaders.

The Saxons were invaders as were the Romans before them and your Celtic ancesters came from France probably when there was a land bridge where the channel is now. We're all immigrants, get over it and get a life!

No it's bollocks and incipient fasism.

No-one's developed anything better

er, no. It's an interest group with an agenda vying for political power. Nothing more.

The slaver statues are seen today for what they are. People aren't clueless. They remained because despite the ugly side they show the reality of the past, and the voters don't want to spend money to replace them.

Perhaps - who would you replace them with? Or would you give any government of the day 100% free reign to do anything?

There is a basic problem behind all this. Governments in today's society can only deliver so much, but the people expect far more. The only solution is lies, lies & more lies. Do you have a better solution or do you just want to winge?

Meaning you think black lives don't matter? No real surprise there.

You must lead a very sheltered life. Probably explains a lot.

Ah, basic reasoning failure yet again.

That doesn't follow.

When we have a white lives matter campaign then we'll have equality.

Much like the adverts on at least one TV channel "We support our black colleagues in the industry........."

I'm not sure who the "we" are but shouldn't that be "We support ALL our colleagues in the industry........." ?

The election successes of Trump and Johnson demonstrate that you are wrong, that the powerful and unscrupulous find it easy to use the net to their advantage. Parliament and the US Senate/Congress are struggling to rein them back.

The near election failures of Trump and Johnson demonstrate that you are right, that the powerful and unscrupulous find it easy to use the net to their advantage. Parliament and the US Senate/Congress are struggling to rein them back, despite the fact that they were democratically elected in the face of a suite of smear campaigns, legal actions in the courts, and a majority of the electorate voting for them.

You echo the standard whine of the Leftycunt 'we know better what the people want, than the people themselves, therefore we find democracy merely a hindrance'.

Never realising that in fact it is YOU who have been lied to, are simple minded and have been used by the media and the net to fall right in behind whatever emotional narrative they have concocted for you.

The complaint of your lords and masters is not that the net and the media worked too well, but that it didn't work nearly well enough to get their zombie candidates elected.

The current system keeps electing a government regardless of how little the people respect or want the existing parties. The reason is simple: party A may be bad but party B would be far worse.

everyone finds the net to their advantage.

Often parliament and so on ARE them. But unless you can come back with a better system...

And which is which changes periodically.

No surprise you think black lives don't matter. Or any, come to that. Other than your own, of course.

You are wrong with Trump. He merely won the election. The majority of the electorate didn't vote for him.

And you right wingers put every obstacle you can in the way of being sure what all the population entitled to vote actually want.

I take it you therefore think Trump and BoJo the least zombie like (whatever that means in your odd little mind) candidates possible?

Trump appears to be one of the most stupid people ever to have held office anywhere.

I've never claimed any such thing. No surprise you're being an idiot again.

I think the idea is that (a notional) "you" doesn't need to be convinced that white lives matter, since that is already assumed. But it's seen as less obvious that the "you" knows that black lives matter, hence the need for campaign to convince. The necessary trade-off between choosing a specific and relevant focus on "black lives" (albeit a choice that is arguably, for some, somewhat alienating), versus the alternative of an inclusive but also vague and ineffectual "all lives" slogan is an interesting one.

Really quite surprising this needs to be pointed out.

Perhaps Fred is one of those saddoes who thinks the world against him. Lot of them on here, apparently.

Could that be that Tommy Robinson isn't in the news at this point in time?

But since you like to quote entire posts when you reply to them, I'd guess you think news broadcasts should do the same? For those with the memory of a goldfish, who claim never to have heard of Robinson.

I'm sure he was. Yes:
