Dishwasher problem

Any bright ideas on curing our Zanussi dishwasher from refusing to start. Its a ZDT6252 model and most time when we try to switch it on it refuses to acknowledge the command.

Its a built in model with selector buttons along the top edge of the door. The "finished cycle" light will be on but pressing any of the program selection buttons does nothing! We have to close it and leave it for a while (half hour to two hours normally) then go back to it and the selection works.

Dunno mate but I am about to scrap a hotpoint with a similar problem - probably the same one actually - which you can collect any time for spares;-)

Thanks for the link. It suggested one similar problem might be the door catch micro switch, worth investigating as it also sometimes doesn't switch off when the door is opened.

Have you seen my last reply? If not check out the door catch micro switch!

It could be detecting water in the base somewhere and thinks there's a leak. Check for any water in the tray at floor level and suck it out or tilt the whole unit to clear it. 1/8" water might trip it out.

I had a problem with a dishwasher door microswitch... it wasn't an electrical issue, just that a screw holding part of the mechanical levers etc that pressed against the microswitch's actuator had become loose. Tightening it all up fixed the problem. I did need to take the cover off the door to find that out.
