Depth of rebate

May 19, 2008 2 Replies

Hi. For double glazed units in the sidelights amd toplight in a timber frame. What should be the minimum rebate depth?

Thanks.

Arthur

In width, enough hold the glass, washleather strips (or glazing mastic) and planted stops.

In depth, around half an inch or so.

Tanner-'op

min depth would be the glass thickness added to putty or whatever sealant added to depth of glazing bead added to whatever margin you want between the bead and edge of frame
