I start to get uncomfortable when it gets above 20C.
I dread summers now in Sussex. Time to migrate oop North I think ?.
We have a simpler system that doesn?t rely on zone valves. Heating goes off at 10pm, comes on at 7am.

Ours is somewhat more complex. Each room has its own timer/thermostat and motorised valve, so we heat the rooms that we normally used for the times that we need them.
I leave mine on all the time. The extra cost in negligible.

Have you actually worked out the cost? Unless your house is super insulated it actually costs quite a bit as a percentage.
If your house is super insulated it won't drop much overnight. Mine isn't particularly and it only drops to about 17C in cold weather (just below freezing) with the heating off. I don't need such a high temperature to be comfortable in the morning; I don't know whether this is common.
Honestly it doesn't seem to make much difference. If the heating is off overnight, when I turn it on it runs all day instead of cycling on and off.

Easy to do some meter readings to see which one costs less.
No doubt it would cost less to turn it off at night, but I doubt if it would be worth the morning discomfort.

Kinda suggests to me that either your boiler is under-powered or your insulation in under-par if it takes a long time to bring your house up to a comfortable temperature.

Mine turns on in the morning in plenty time to warm the house. To me it makes no sense to keep the house at the same temperature when you're in bed asleep.
who said "same temperature"? But if you have to get up in the night ....
You?re not gonna die of hypothermia in the time it takes to go for a wee, even if you have an outside toilet?

If you have it arranged to drop the temperature when in bed, that is much the same as switching it off? If a meaningful amount of differential.
Mine is switched off. House doesn't get cold enough to make a visit to the loo a problem.
