Danish oil

I'm stripping the hardwod winow frames from their gunky brown protection. Up until now I've been using three coats of varnish to protect them (and this shows the natural grain of the wood) but have recently noticed that it has already worn off in a couple of places (6 mths - getting too hot in the sun ?). Danish oil has been reccomended as an alternative but I thought this was inside use. Would this (or perhaps Teak oil) give enough protection for exterior windows ? Thanks

I use teak oil on external furniture - but on hardwood windows - if you want the grain to show then use Sikkens Filter 7 .... a base coat first, then 2 coats of Filter 7 top coat.

This is good for 5 yrs acording to Sikkens, but Ifind a simple clean down and 5min recoat every 2 yaers keeps windows as new, and it does not build up.

Drop me a mail if you want details of how to apply it
