cordless Dustbuster - best buy or new battery?

Spouse was goig to make his own rechargeable battery pack but I chucked the thing out. He said it would be easy. I could ask him if you like, or someone here will tell you.

Presumably this in side the unit rather than a plugin type, I don't remember seeing a battery compartment on Dustbusters. I expect it takes standard cells, so probably in the range of =A31 > =A32 per cell depending on the technology, size and capacity.

Do you cost your time into doing the repair? If you do then buy new as just an hour or two of any bodies time plus parts will be more than a new item.

Fixed one of those once, it turned out it wasnt the batteries but the poor connections made to them. Clean up, good as new. ISTR it was just

My old B&D dustbuster went in the bin many years ago. Note they were called DUSTbuster, as dust was about the heaviest thing mine would pick up. Even crumbs were too much for it ISTR. The Second Worst product I ever bought (after the Triton electric shower which was similarly binned with a certain satisfaction).

Yeah, there is that. Seems all the handheld hoovers I've tried have been grotty, with one exception: the hoover dustettes, that date back to the 50s or 60s. Those are good.

But they now have a certain reputation, thanks to the BMJ :) Well I was kinda horrified, but I'm not throwing it out, its too good a machine.

And if any strange people are reading this... the solid cast metal fan blades are very very close to the air inlet, ok?

Cheers for that info. Was it a straightforward battery swap or were these the solder-tag variety?

I guess I wasnt so clear: I didnt need to replace the batteries, the contact springs just needed a clean up. No solder tags.

- well some evidently do - the article's wrong, the critical measurement is a scary 2", not 6", making offchoppage pretty much a dead cert.
