Normally it's some combination of pressing the button you can see at the bottom and moving the numbers or just moving the numbers while the padlock is in the open position.

Agreed, especially for something as cheap'n cheerful as that. But it should have come with a note of the combo, obviously!

It works! I suspected that but ws not brave enough to press it hard enough...

So now you know how to lock your daughter's diary so she can't read it?
