My french press coffee pot needs a new mesh for the plunger. I measured the inside diameter of the pot, and it is 9cm.
I looked at eBay for a replacement. There was only one that was described as being 9cm diameter, and it was comparatively pricey. I bought it, and when it arrived, the packaging showed it as being
85mm in diameter.
I tried it in the plunger and perhaps because of the slightly cupped distortion imposed by the curvature of the steel holding disks, it didn't come anywhere near touching the wall of the container. I contacted the seller, who told me the mesh really was 9cm. So I measured it, and it was 9cm.
So, if the stated 85mm mesh is 9cm in diameter, then it seems to me that the 9cm would need be 95mm so as to drag slightly on the pot wall to make a tight enough fit for proper filtration. Would that be the way these things work?
I'd really appreciate some advice on this.
