Cage clamp connectors

Feb 10, 2013 3 Replies

There was an interesting thread covering crimped connections a couple of days ago. Would I be correct in assuming that cage clamp type connectors such as Wago 222/224 could be used instead of crimps in most circumstances?

I used them last year in place of conventional junction boxes on some lighting mods and found them to be very quick and convenient to use.

Yes, if they are suitably contained in a box.

Contained in a wago box (or similar) they are supposed to be ok for non accessible connections.

I used Wago boxes for the lighting connections in the loft space and was able to fit two 3 pole 222 lever type connectors into a 2 gang flush box to rig an additional power socket.
