Boiler - help with ID

I have bought an old council property, it has a nice little bac

boiler. I know it was fitted around 1968-1972, but I don't know what exac model to replace it with. Although it still works fine, it must be time to get something mor efficiant! On the removable front panel it lists : Glow-worm Galaxie 246/246N

Can anybody tell me which back boiler & front I can do a simpl straight swap for? I looked here:

it looks right, but I don't know which one.....

I will need to get the boiler and firefront only, evereything else ha been replaced recently

You would need a Glowworm unit not a Baxi unit, if available.

Unfortunately, you really need consider how best to place the boiler in a completely different location.

AFAIK only Baxi still do back boilers and although one may be technically allowed as a replacement (under recent changes to energy efficiency regs) they're generally considered rather stone-age technology for a number of reasons (which I CBA to rehash, but groups.google uk.d-i-y "back boiler" should find them).

It would be allowed as a replacement under the latest April 200 changes, and I have found several stockists of Glowworm BBU's, thank to the info here! I know BBU's are rather outdated compared to Condensers, but I am on limited DIY budget and cannot really start ripping out any more wall etc to run new pipework..
