Established by who ?. I have never had any problems with windows update apart from the time it now tends to take to install them. I had linux once and set up a multi-boot system with System Commander, with Win NT, Win 98 also installed. Linux utterly screwed the disk so I had to resort to a reformat and go back to just Win 98.

People want thinner, lighter phones to compensate for the increase in height and width. This can only be done by making the battery part of the fixed design.

Why would anyone need to ?.

Best thing for an old person is an OS they can get help with easily (from family and friends) for the inevitable problems.

And that is unlikely to be Linux.

I do feel it's all very sad, but inevitable if he can't move forward and make amends for the inevitable mistakes that he's made.

Most people who use Linux seem to be the solitary type. In fact I know very few who rage about Linux. In the past couple of years I have known of only one piece of software I had an interest in that isn't compiled for Windows.

Those are based on the netBSD kernal rather than the linux one IIUC.

However in principle the same idea; a *nix core in a less user hostile wrapper.

MacOS is not linux, its a BSD Unix

Except Linus has absorbed some of the MacOS software. CUPS print server is just one.
