Bathroom basin waste connection

Oct 08, 2007 4 Replies

Friends, Recently moved into a new home, the existing bathroom basin has a Bristan Prism mixer tap but the waste plug has no identification.

I am assuming that it is a click to make and click to break type of function (pop up) since it is broken! There is NO lever operation!

I have searched high and low around the 'net but cannot locate anything similar.

The plug section is threaded on the underside and is 1.1/2" in diameter and etched with the word "Push". There is a nylon insert in the plughole that has an hexagon nut on the top, probably for fitting and removal , but I would prefer not to remove it at this time in case the whole thing drops inside!

Any ideas as to maker and suppliers would be appreciated.

Regards, Peter.

I think you are looking for a sprung basin waste - like these:

I'm sure that the bloke said that his version was repairable. Might be worth a look to avoid disturbing the trap etc

PeterK, thankyou for the link.

On closer inspection the ones on the site are a much larger diameter than the one I mentioned.

I visited Bathstore today and saw for myself the options and I asked the staff about my own plug and they too had no idea as to make or supplier so it looks very much as if I will have to discard the present fitting and consider the old and trusted plug and chain!

Thankyou again for your comments, Regards, Peter
