B&Q robbing bastards

You are fortunate. The hardware shop near my old home was bought by a failed "builder". l looked him up - what a mess. Seems he put his stupid wife and brainless son in charge. I was passing by years ago and thought I'll just nip in there and get it. Something like a battery. The young guy said, "Ah, now then, hang on we must have them somewhere". Wanker. The shop has now been knocked into the hairdressers next door. The original 27 years owner was not stupid. He has a house down the road. After selling he did not call into the shop to get his goodbye cards. I have been told that he used to cross the road to avoid walking past his shop.

27 years in the same shop, living above it, open six days per week! A nice little prison. He was a nice guy and I wish him well.

I will post back when I receive the lawnmower and have RTFM. These are complicated machines, one must RTFM. But the new lawnmower will be ever so grand! Do you have a lawnmower? Lawnmowers are important.

We are also lucky enough to have a car parts shop that opened at least

35 years ago. The original owner has long gone, but the guy that used to be his assistant has owned and run it for many years now. The stock levels are not as good as they used to be, but he still has all sorts of odds and ends to hand and can get other parts in in 3 to 4 hours. He will also lend you specialist tools if he hasn't got ones in stock that you try to buy.

I can see the attractions of running your own shop, but I can also see the downside long-term. Living over it must really be difficult.

It's amazing how much it has in it, though. Jammed solid, and they'll get stuff in for you, quite quickly.

William Street, Herne bay (as it says). Ever visited it?

Many years ago there was a good one in Canterbury. It's the Penny Theatre now.

I do indeed, 150cc single cylinder 4 stroke.

A little tempramental after standing over the winter, but after a coule of tanks of fuel it isn't too lumpy.

Eeeeeeee. How lovely! You'll be most envied man int' street.

There used to be loads of car parts shops in my old town, one by one I watched them close down. The nearest one to me is about three miles away. These days I don't really know what I'm looking at when I open the bonnet. These days I use and trust my garage for repairs. My days of crawling under a MK3 Cortina have long gone. As for the hardware shop and him living above, people used to ring his door bell on a Sunday afternoon.

Plug it. Just like I'm plugging Thorns of Norwich.

They are actually quite big, but have all sorts of interesting little corners.
