B&Q - delays on Gloss white shaker kitchen

Sep 22, 2006 7 Replies

Ordered a kitchen on 24 June, took the unit carcasses then and there and told delivery of the rest would be 19 Aug latest - just about acceptable, so builder got everything geared to install that week. On

19 Aug the appliances came but no doors - no prior warning, just told on the day they would now be coming on 20 September. Complained bitterly but absolutely promised 20 September so decided to live with it. Phoned on 18 Sept and now told no, no doors until 21 Oct - again no prior warning and only found out because we rang them.

Has anyone else had this experience? Does anyone know of a similar alternative? The only one I've found is at Howdens Joinery called Calgary (also MFI, same group, where it's called Bilbao) but (a) you have to buy the whole unit and (b) they're astronomically expensive - just a single Hodens decor door for the fridge is =A3197.99 exc VAT. I've looked at IKEA but their sizes are all different and no really similar style.

You must be looking at the retail price expect at least 60% discount at Howdens

My one experience of B&Q promised delivery dates on kitchens was like yours. It might be worth checking out the nearest large Depot branch to see if they are on the shelves and if so cancel your existing order and buy there. When I was doing my kitchen it would have been really helpful if the guy at B&Q Chiswick had said, instead of taking my order, they're in stock at Yeading (the largest B&Q in London allegedly) instead of getting me to order, bit no doubt each branch manager is anxious to keep his sales up.

one for this reason and even drove up from Havant to finalise the order, but all to no avail. My sympathies. Cheers, Rosel

They might not get the choice. You may be able to claim "loss of bargain" if they fail to deliver the goods. Worth investigating if you do decide to bail out and find a supplier with stock.

Christian.

B&Q were a shambles on the last kitchen I did but IME it's a game you have to play with any of the big outfits.

Has anyone else had this experience?

We ordered a complete kitchen for delivery on 22nd July.

Our oven arrived 3 weeks late, the hob, hood, & dishawasher 2 weeks late !.

What a nightmare !!!!!!!!!!

We're still awaiting a wall cabinet & glazed door, we've sent both back damaged - twice.

Countless other stuff has arrived damaged.

Stuff arrived that we didn't ask for.

Crazily, this week, they sent us a gloss white cabinet door out of the blue. Our kitchen isn't even white, it's cherry wood finish !.

I must have spoken to almost everyone at the Belfast after sales call center & am expecting an invite the the Christmas party !.

Wan't to buy a cheap gloss white door, 500mm wide ?

woodglass...
