Vibration injury (reprise)

There was a thread recently about vibration-related health problems:

I'm currently suffering from something evidently similar, but different... after using power tools for some time - even a mere hot-air stripper yesterday - I get an odd tingling in my hand: it's definitely

*not* of the characteristic 'pins and needles' variety; all I can liken it to is that my hand becomes like a tuning fork! - if I tap it against something, there's a resonant tingle, which dampens down over a short period - I swear I can almost hear the 'bong' - really weird. Anybody else had this one?

God I hate getting old.

Do you think it is the power tool vibration causing it, or just the position you end up holding for a prolonged period because of the tool, or perhaps even from supporting the weight? IYSWIM

Not like that. If I hold a heavey item for a long period it can make my arms feel "wobbly" afterwards for a bit.

Preferable to the alternative though ;-)

All the time. Got it yesterday after an hour on the 2-stroke hedgetrimmer. Its like ringing in your ears after loud music. It passes quickly and probably does no harm as long as you don't do it every day all day.

Yep, doing a lot with a 5kg SDS lateley right arm felt weird for a couple of days after I used it to knock through a cvity wall (twice)

The message from Lobster contains these words:

I susepct if you used a hand-scraper for the same length of time you'd find the same thing. In these transient situations it doesn't appear to be the vibration, it's more like having held your hand in one position for too long.

Yep - that's the one you I mentioned which snipped from my post, which I said was similar... :-)

NP's 'like ringing in your ears after loud music' sounds spot on!
