I have a combination microwave/grill/oven and yes if you take off the outer case many of the parts are covered in a very fine layer of grease/fat/oil.

Still have a Ronco Buttoneer which gets used as & when needed.

Yes we watched that as well, in quiet disbelief. Lots of missing information & 'with the magic of television' moments.

Now there are only two of us at home our main oven only gets used at Christmas for batches of mince pies (80+ this year) & xmas dinner. We no longer have roast dinners & instead mainly use the hob, microwave, slow cooker & more recently, an air fryer. The grill gets used occasionally & is probably the one thing we would miss if the oven went. That's our lifestyle choice & if anyone doesn't agree with it - hard luck. :)

Try using it as a grill - cheese on toast for example. Works surprisingly well

- although mine does toast both sides. Could shield the other side with some foil I suppose, if needed.

Electricity costs what it costs. EVs will get road taxed and heavy insurance premiums. Leccy will cost what it genuinely costs to generate it *reliably*. If you are paying *less*, someone else is paying *more*...

I gave up with every electric cooker bar the microwave and a toaster. And a couple of standby electric stoves that only get turned on a few times a year.

I now have cast iron gadgetry that lasts and can be scoured clean. And fits on the AGA.

Not according to the trailers, two people are strongly opposed to having one fitted while another two are madly in favour.

Unless you downgrade to a coal-fired aga, you will struggle to make toast on it.

All my farming relatives have oil agas. They cost a fortune to run and are switched off in summer. Unless you keep sheep and need to pop the occasional orphan in the warming oven and need to dry out welly socks and other things, they are simply status symbols

Yes I was also noticing the gas ovens made by a Turkish company described as dual cavity. This is not a double oven, it appears to be an oven and Grill, with a dividing plate and a variable power to the grill element with no thermostat or markings for temperature. It does worry me that certain companies with a little spin can sell something that implies it is what it is not. I think the small air fryers however are being a little unfair, as nobody wants to heat a huge oven when a small one can do the job. Brian

Oh it does make it ecnetually, but dont eat much toast and te electric toater works well enougjh
