The programme was aimed at the average user, so used an average two drawer air fryer.
What would be more interesting is putting an oven thermometer inside and working out if they are lying or not
Well, I don't have an AGA; there's nowhere to put one here; it'd cost a lot more than £25 to buy and install one even if I could. I wouldn't run it during the summer, so I'd need a backup cooker of some sort, just like renewables need backing up, and I don't have a conventional oven, just a hob and a microwave. A small, cheap air fryer is ideal. What little heat comes out of it during use and as it cools afterwards contributes to the overall heating of the bungalow.

I puncture the skin several times, then microwave for 17 or 18 minutes first, then put them in a very hot oven for 10 - 12 minutes (depends on the potato variety). That ensures a well-cooked centre and dry skin.
It's very non-linear, and varies with the food. Heat transfer speed between two points in proportional to the difference in temperature between the points, and varies with heat conductivity, Cooking is a chemical process, whose speed doubles with about a 9 degree C rise in temperature.
So you need to get the inside cooked before the outside burns, and there will be an optimum temperature and time range, which will vary with the physical thickness of the particular sample, as well as moisture content.

Hands up everyone who bought one of the latest fad devices when it was launched onto the market (Ronco were one of the names I recall) and now it sits at the back of a shelf in a cupboard waiting for the spring cleaning day when it gets thrown out, donated to the charity shop or given to a family member starting out in their own flat etc. We've just thrown out a George Foreman grill after the requisite sojourn under the stairs.
I use my GF quite a lot instead of a frying pan for sausages etc.

With air fryers how long will it be before fine aerosol oil/fat particles contaminate the electronics in the device?
Much the same as water and electronics not mixing. I once dismantled a steam iron where the manufacturer had replaced the simple bi-metal switch with n electronic temperature control. The water vapour/steam managed to find its way to a small pcb in the handle.
So did I until it simply fell apart in less than a year.
... and there still isn't a whole turkey in there! :-)
Do they get into the electronics of your fan oven? Hardly beyond the wit of designers to avoid this.
