I would go on the bus before I would pay that....

Well that's a viable scam, drop/pick up your passenger outside the gates of the long term car park, and let them ride the free Happy Bus

Did that doctor who set fire to himself inside a jeep as a 'terrorist attack' pay his £4 ?

No, that was 2007. In those days you'd have been paid 4 quid for visiting (I once found myself with 6 hours to kill there)

They did the same at Southampton, within days of that attack. Today, you can't drive anywhere near the entrance unless you're a local taxi, or a bus. You basically have to enter the Short Term Car park, and ka-ching ! that's Two Quid

Yes, when I went to the Proms on a Sunday I used to park (free) on the road just outside the hall, not far from the entrance. And on Saturday afternoons I parked (free) on Waterloo Bridge; easy access to South Bank and the West End. This would be in the early 90s.

Even more so when you include the CC.

Up until a couple of years ago, you could still park for free on a Saturday afternoon close to Waterloo station.
