OT - Is My Refrigerator Broke?

Since it dumps the ice just fine during those cycles the defroster must be working. If you missed that comment, that's cool. (no pun intended) If there was something else behind that comment, please share. Thanks.

Andy Hall vs IMM

I admit I haven't got a clue about core dumps and segmentation faults, but then I'm not a programmer. Neither am I an electrician. But unlike IMM, I do not try to show off and give bad and sometimes dangerous advice on matters I know very little about.

Wasteful Packaging

It will be a very long time before we run out out room for trash dumps. They really are very small in comparison to other land uses. For example how big is the average NFL stadium or MLB park. You could pack a lot of garbage and trash in one.

Why do cars "bong!" when you crash?

So it just dumps the process with the largest memory footprint without telling you? That sounds very user friendly. [face palm] You do realise that a reboot with an ipad is no such thing? It might restart the kernel but most state (eg all your settings) are saved.

Wave "Dehumidifier" -- Has anyone here tried it? (2025 Update)

It also has a hot coil where it dumps the heat. When air flow across the cold coil the moisture in the air condenses on the coil and then drips into a collection pan. The problem is that in a cool location like a damp basement this cold coil can ice up.

How to stop the boiler piddling?

The boiler dumps quite a lot at a time. It has a siphon thing to batch it up. I've put the elbow on now and it's reduced the noise quite a bit. I reckon it'll definitely be fine now once it's behind the false back of a kitchen cupboard. Cheers, Colin.

Linux - thumbs down

According to this: http://www.zdnet.com/hands-on-zorin-os-8-linux-7000027587/ it appears that the default install dumps you into a 'guest session' mode with everything locked down, and the only means of escape via an obscure sequence. Zorin is not a mainstream Linux distro.

Problem with one of my three toilets.....

The kind of waste does vary, it is true, but normally there is plenty of flow when the cistern dumps the flush in one big lump so to speak. it might be that the unit downstairs is flussing with less water in one go.

Freon, or the new stuff?

Maybe for the massive profit the manufacturers make..But I wonder at our end..How far this foolishness will really go before someone dumps Al Gores body in a lake of real toxic waste?

Solid wood worktops

I will say one thing though: IF you have areas where SWMBO dumps hot pans, or leaves permanently wet, inset some stone or metal. These worktops look great, but they are not a patch on melamine for sheer utility.
