Yes, I do wear hearing protectors in the shop. Will start using them when flying also.
I think there might be a stronger correlation between number of shop-made jigs and size of the tool budget. :)
Or for pricing them *juuuuuust* high enough that you want to go out in the shop and build your own. :-)

Try a smaller shop. I saw bags today of 5Kg and 10Kg. And you probably need more than you think.
