That could be a problem. I remember a handwritten sign in a Forest Service pit toilet. It said something like 'I'm a contractor and I do not work for the Forest Service. Please don't throw cans and trash in'. The FS and BLM aren't popular in some parts of the world.

For a deep well, over 32 ft, there is a pipe down to a venturi (jet) and a pipe back up. A pump, centrifugal works, pumps water down and through the venturi and the same water plus water added at the venturi, returns to the surface where some is pumped down again and the surplus is what is gained. The venturi narrows the water passage which increases the water velocity which also lowers the pressure which pulls in water. Same as a carburetor.

For a shallow well, significantly less than 32 ft max, you can attach the venturi to the pump and just run a suction pipe down the well.

I have no idea what is used at a pool.

If the pump is above water level a jet pump may(?) be easier to prime. Probably need a foot valve on all the intake pipes with a pump above water.

I agree with you that the convenience of a 120VAC pump outweighs that of the portability but there's maintenance of a gasoline pump, so I too prefer a smaller portable 120VAC electric pump that has a two-inch hose input and output (which is really all that I need).

I may be able to retrofit the 8-inch (or whatever it is) base of the Lanchez 1.6HP 120VAC pump to a 2-inch hose but I don't know how to do it.

Therefore, I'm tending to agree with you as the septic will only need to be pumped out once every few years while the pool is used daily for vacuum.

Given creating 2-inch suction (vacuum) is the most important goal, what do you think will retrofit the Lanchez pump above to a vacuum pump?

I may be able to retrofit the 6-inch base of the Lanchez 1.6HP 120VAC pump to a 2-inch hose but I don't know how to do it yet.

How would you fit a 2" hose onto the bottom of that Lanchez pump I have? Note that I have an EXTRA (broken) similar-sized pump from Harbor Freight.

Maybe I can attach that extra bottom to the new Lanchez to give it an input

2-inch hose - but I have to block off some of the openings first I think.

All the videos I saw on YouTube used a truck with a green hose which looked about 3 inches in diameter (or so) and none of them used a submersible pump but the good news is the Lanchez I have is a submersible pump anyway.

I wonder if there's a way to fix the 6-inch base of the old harbor freight submersible pump (which is broken) onto the new Lanchez submersible pump?

I just measured it for you. The non-threaded center input hole is 1-3/8 inches in diameter and it's lifted up 1-3/4 inches by the 6" base plate.

This is the replacement pump I bought to empty out the pool a while ago.

I bought it to replace the old Harbor Freight submersible pump (which broke) which is what I use whenever I need to drain the pool once yearly.

I drop the submersible pump in the deep end of the pool and the next morning the pool is empty except for a few inches in the bowl that the pump can't get because it's raised up in the air by the six-inch base.

I made a mistake calling them jet pumps. They're just pool pumps. The pool pumps are somewhat below the water level so they need no priming. In fact, they partially empty the pool if I don't tighten the pump covers.

There is no pool vac. That's the whole point in making a pool vac. I'm aware most people have skimmers that can act as a pool vacuum. I don't. My skimmers aren't filtered. They're for the popup jets. The whole point is to make a pool vacuum to replace that popup system.

Based on all the nice help, I think I've changed my mind and given up on the sewage part to focus only on retrofitting a pool vacuum pump out of what I already have, which is a 5500GPH 1.6 HP submersible pump.

The Lancez has a 1-3/8ths inch diameter unthreaded input hole.

The output is described in the Amazon page as "NPT 1-1/2" discharge comes with a 3/4" NPT garden hose adapter, 1-1/2'' NPT elbow adapter and multi-hose adapter" which works fine with my 2-inch diameter pool hoses.

The submersible pump doesn't need to be primed so much as submersed.

My current plan, now that you folks made me think harder, is to retrofit the existing 5500GPH 1.6 HP submersible Lanchez pump to take a two-inch pool hose as the "vacuum/suction" input - but it has to be leak free.

I'm going to give up on the sewage idea and stick with the main goal. Creating a 2-inch vacuum for the pool.

These pumps are plugged into a GCFI and they're never run with a person in the pool so electric shock shouldn't be possible given how they're used.

There's a reason those cuisines don't feature much raw produce.

In any event, sushi is rice dressed with vinegar, salt, and sugar. Its garnishes may or may not be cooked.

Doesn't your pool have a pump and filter? It would make the most sense to just plumb into the input to that for the vac. You perhaps could just make a pickup to fit the hose over the outlet from the pool to the pump. Immerse the hose to fill it with water, then put the outlet end over the outlet.

If the outlet is at the bottom of the pool, you could make the pickup large enough that the suction would hold it in place as long as the pump runs.

You expected a a.h.r poster to know the difference between sushi and sashimi?

You don't see much iceberg lettuce but salads are popular in Japan.

You better contact your municipality before spreading septic water. It has to be "treated" to be spread around, otherwise the rain would just wash it down the creeks and rivers.

The "self cleaning" part simply means it has jets on the floor which push water into the deep end. They run on the unfiltered skimmer ports.

The problem is they are a gimmick & don't really work all that well. Not like a vacuum would anyway.

Oh, most people who have pools can use the skimmer ports as a vacuum port. But I can't because my skimmers are unfiltered. They just run the jets.

I can do that with the main pool pump debris basket from Paramount Pools. But it stinks. And it's a pain. If you screw up, your main pump runs dry.

Alls I want is a portable vacuum pump with 2-inch input & 2-inch output.

I'm seeking the simplest solution with is a 120VAC portable pool vacuum. Alls I need are three things, I think.

(1) A 120VAC 1 HP to 2 HP pump with 2-inch suction input & 2-inch output (2) Some kind of filter in the middle (3) A typical manual vacuum head (with wheels) on a long pole

Right now I'm just trying to source the pump with 2-inch input & output.

A quick amazon search for pool vacuums returns 1 1/2 inch hoses ; some 1 1/4 inch and zero 2 inch.

Every time I said in this thread 2-inch, I meant 1-1/2 inch. Sorry for the confusion.

Alls I really need is an inexpensive (around $100 to $150 tops) pump with

1-1/2 inch suction and 1-1/2 inch output where I then have to insert a filter in the middle (which will also be 1-1/2 inch input & output).

I apologize for not measuring the hose as I always think of it as a 2-inch hose, but I see it's a normal 1-1/2 inch vacuum hose to fit a normal 1-1/2 inch vacuum head attachment that you push around the pool on a long pole.

that pump isn't waterproof and it's only 1/10th of a horsepower.

This is a similar model but 1.5HP so it's far more powerful I would think.

Do you think they need to be primed first? How would you prime them when they're on the deck, a foot above the pool?

And would a normal home-use under-the-sink water filter filter the dirt?

Simplest would appear to be to use your pump, submerge it, run the pressure line to a pool cleaner with a venturi and filter bag.

So how are you going to prime the pump - fill the intake side to where hoses (if any) are in water - with water?

Advice from someone who understands pools would be a real good idea.
