Weed wacker without a Li battery?

Hi All,

My sister needs a battery operated weed wacker but can't risk a battery fire. All the ones I have come across use lithium ion batteries. Anyone know of one that uses Nickle Metal Hydrate or a similar non lithium battery?

If the lithium batteries were a fire hazard - they would be banned by now doncha think ? John T.

Depends on how much political correctness and palm waxing are involved:

But you would think by now, but that would put some rational thinking on all this EV nonsense.

Look how long it took to get lead out of gasoline.

Thank you!

Now to figure out which weed whackers they go to. Should not bee too hard. Just look for the replacement batteries for the desired model.

If it uses lithium, keep it outside. Although inside, the lithium fumes will keep you from getting depressed.

Every cellphone is powered by lithium-ion batteries these days. Nobody leaves the cellphones outside.

Don't forget about the notebook computers too. Nobody leaves them outside because of the lithium-ion batteries.

True, but maybe she won't get a cellphone for this reason, and cellphone batteries are smaller than weed-whacker batteries.

It didn't take very long to eliminate lead from gasonline once the danger was identified. I'd like to see data on the number of fires caused by weed whacker batteries compared to fires caused by gasoline powered ones and the fuel stored and handled for those.
