USA: Daylight Stupid Time starts on Sunday, March 8, 2026

Yes, major annoyance and I read this the earliest possible date, the second Sunday in March.

Wiki DST article is worth reading. Looks like US, Canada and EU are most of the world users and negatives outweigh positives. I suspect US would stop it but undecided between DST and standard time.

My biggest gripe is that unlike old days where watch or clock was easy to change electronic stuff can be a PITA. On fax machine which I now seldom use, you have to read the manual to figure it out. On previous car with computer it took me a half hour to figure out the first time. Even my damn atomic's are flaky.

I want it.

Some of that depends on where you are in the time zone. On the eastern side, I like the light at end of day, but if I was on the western end, would not matter much.

It is interesting and reminds me of the time I did a couple of days work in western Michigan and people were up and going to work and school in the dark while back home in Delaware it was daylight. Then there were people I worked with in northern UK that in the winter Went to work and came home in the dark. First time I was in that area in the summer, sun was up at 5 am and down at 10 pm. Time zones would make no difference.

Of course they do, did you want dark nights earlier in summer?

If so, why?

Aridzona likes that because it (slightly) cools off a bit faster after work.

Sunset here in FL is 6:34PM today. Where I lived in CT it is 5:44 I'm both further west and south.

Pick one and stick with it.

If you are into outdoor sports it is nice for later.

+1

I'd like to keep it permanently.

Arizona is also far enough south that the length of the day doesn't vary as much. Around here in the summer the birds start raising hell around 5 AM and at the height of the summer I can comfortably read out on the deck at 10 PM.

Of course Navajoland marches to its own drummer.

So does the outdoor entertainment industry (golf, league softball, etc.)

I'd like to go to bed after sunset in the summer. Of course, it would still be light out because twilight is fairly long up here.

We tried "permanent" daylight savings time in 1974. People hated it so much the two-year trial period was abandoned after about 10 months.

That was part of point of my post. All depends where you are.

Vaguely remember it. There are morning problems though
