If he really loved you, he'd buy a John Deere X739 (19 kW, 4-wheel drive, 4-wheel steer) with a 48" mower deck, 47" snow blower, and a heated ROPS hard side cab. Out the door they're only ~$28k.

It's a pretty crappy battery that will notlast longer than 6.5 tiny american gallons of gas. Also, to charge an 80% discharged battery takes closer to 85 or 90% of the battery capacity to properly re-charge.

With the old lead acid batteries? 5 gallons might have been closer - but that's 30 year old tech.

Also small gasoline engines are notoriously inefficient and dirty compared to large scale generation wheather natural gas fired turbines or diesell generators - and NOBOFY ises gasoline generators on any large scale.
