Been awhile since I loitered here. Good to see things are going alone fine!
The lovely wife has decided that *we* should put a layer of bricks on the cement patio. So I set a big pile on it for her, but that wasn't what she meant....
Anyway, there's no way out of it... so before I start following some internet blind leading the blind..... to those who have done this... Other than washing it good, is there anything else to do before slopping the cement on it and trying to get them level?

Pressure clean the slab and rock on. Set the bricks just like tile and I would use fortified or even flex mortar (more latex). Use a notched trowel with big notches (3/8 or bigger). I have done a lot of this with pavers. (that I got for free)
Don't know, but how about that "special" adhesive they use in all the DIY shows to glue concrete counters, or wall caps, etc.
Before you spend thousands on pavers, have you considered faking a back injury until she forgets about this silly project?
Regardless of what you decide, remove those evil home improvement channels from your cable/dish package or you'll never get to relax on the weekends.
Silly question, but why concrete them down at all? I've seen some of those fine home improvement shows setting the bricks/blocks down and using sand in between them to keep them in place. What if "we" decide "we" don't like them after all?

Already tried that and it didn't work. Also tried turning up the volume on the TV.
That's a good point... and less work. I watched a few of those DIY videos last night. Most used adhesive on the bricks around the edges where there's nothing to frame them.
How does this sound.... Lay out the bricks spaced so I don't have to cut any of them. Sweep in dirt (not sand), pack it down, fill in the spaces with dry mortar mix, water, pack, dry. Then add more mortar where needed to be level.

Raking out a mortar bed will not add that much to your time or cost and the squeeze out will fill the gaps so you are not creating a weed garden that you are constantly spraying to kill. Just keep a wet sponge handy to wipe off any excess mortar that squeezes up to the top. Doing bricks is a whole lot easier than the flag stones you see in the sidewalk going up to the shed and they are over concrete too. We have a couple thousand square feet of that flag stone that we laid ourselves.
