Nice. The radicals here have all sorts of excuses that don't pan out so try repeatedly to stop them from building our smaller set off shore.
Their excuses are 'wind turbines kill whales'. Gee, that one is extremely stupid. Last I looked whales don't fly. Then they try to go for sonar but they don't understand passive sonar (emits nothing, just listens). They mistake all the whale deaths (geeze, they aren't immortal) are caused by sonar but so far every one has been proven to be disease, ship strikes (we are a HUGE international shipping port and have been since before the revolutoionsry war) and shark attacks etc. They started screaming when the plan was announced and totally ignored that they hadn't been built yet. Fact is we've had passive sonar all over the area since WWII but they don't want to hear that.
That I don't know about.
You're being a bit dishonest - the fufurow is about active sonar not passive sonar. I don't have a dog in that fight, but at least you could represent their arguments faithfully. I don't doubt that there are those who don't know the difference and thus lump them together.
Magnetic fields from the distribution cables disrupts the whales navigation system .
What? Who? What? YOU KIDS GET OFF MY LAWN!!!! Is Teddy still president? Is Sparky still in the Navy? I hate when this happens. I have a lawn?
What did I tell you about talking out your ass, Carol?
Some of us have the knowledge and tools to service them ourselves ... do you know how to get a Win7 OS to recognize and read a larger than 2Tb hard drive ? How to end gap a piston ring ? What an interference press fit is ? How to properly torque the lug nuts on your car? How to mud and tape drywall ?
Sharks, on the other hand...
Win7? yes piston rings? Did so decades ago.. interference press? no idea.. properly torque? Sure mud tape drywall? Well, if it doesn't need to look good...
Whales don't fly??? You funning me??? TELL ME IT ISN'T SO !!!!
It might have to do with the noise they create. Whales communicate and echo locate with very low frequency sound. The turbines create a lot of loud low frequency noise.
Then again, it is probably sickness and/or boat strikes.
Rent is ok for short term but I do not see it for the long term.
When buying one finally gets the house paid off and the monthly payments stop. There is upkeep and tax to pay. I lived in a house for about 30 years. When I moved I sold the house for slightly over 3 times what I paid for it and much of the upkeep. So you may say I stayed in it for free. While I will not get the benifit of the new house, the children will where if rented they would get nothing. Sort of like when my parents passed away I got a lot of money when I sold their house.
Around here sometimes the rent is more than a house payment. That is where the land lord makes their money plus later the land lord gets all the money when he pays off the loan on the house.
And here I thought you were just hot air ! I've done all the above in the last year or two . Not a lot of people that want to learn how to do for themselves , and it's crippled our manufacturing and industrial base . Hey , we can't ALL be social workers !
What is is "manufacturing base" you speak of" You mean in China where the make all the air conditioners, fans, appliances and stuff?
Who shipped those jobs overseas?
Explain Milwaukee vibrators to her please:
Renting is like camping
This is why I put "economic" in the first line above. I was only talking about the money aspects of buying vs. renting.
Mine was an extreme example, but what people charge for rent varies a lot and anyone who is paying less than average for the same sort of property is more likely to benefit financially from renting over buying.
Landlords make a lot of money when and if they have good tenants. But there are quite a few tenants who damaage the property, many of those do it seriously, and there are often periods when the property is not rented. That's why they have to charge as much as they do when they do have a tenant.
Anyhow that was mostly story-telling. The point of the post is that lost income on the purchase price (plus property tax you remind me) is
80 or 90% or 105% of what the rent would be. And normally houses appreciate, but when I bought mine, the seller who owned it for 4 years had to cash a CD to get enough money to pay the broker. I think I paid just what he paid 4 years earlier.
Well they used to, but too many of their brothers were killed.
Were it not for sonar, they would live 5 times as long as elephants.
WWII was a tragedy. I don't want to discuss it.
It might have to do with sonar and whales.
That would be "The Zipper".
Lest we forget George Herbert Walker Bush started the ball rolling on NAFTA. He lost the election in part due to Perot's giant sucking sound so Zipper had to carry on the work of the duopoly.
Well stated. Bush I was a total RINO and very, very good personal friends with the Zipper and his family, if you can call it that.
Read my lying lips: no new taxes.
