If/when it happens again, call the fire department instead of the police.

why have you not posted to Youtube a video of this nitwit shooting off his incendiaries? and a video of the cops thinking of donuts instead of the issue at hand?

g off these huge starburst types landing all over the neighborhood, and in particular in my back yard and roof. I've never complained to any neighbor in 20+ years about anything until now. But I was getting live embers fal ling all over the bone dry property and it scared the bejeezus out of me. Had to cancel a trip to watch a fireworks show and spend the next 3 hours i n the backyard hosing down the roof, furniture, dry brush, etc., etc...

nd asked him to stop shooting over this way. He said it wasn't him, so I went back home. Next shot, I could see clearly it was coming from his year ....

to cancel a trip to a fireworks show to stay home and keep a lookout.

ant to "start a neighborhood feud." I had to keep asking them to knock on the door and tell him to knock it off. But they didn't like to "knock on d oors if all the lights were out." Finally, I told them I'll go knock on t he door if you will say something to them. They didn't like that, but said for me to stay at home, and they wood. He denied it again, and they gave him a warning -- the fine is $5K.

ded loads off of the roof, cars, tarps, and plastic patio tables, etc.....

over and over for 5 days how "I" didn't stop the fireworks.

When I had a boat, I couldn't believe the idiots at marinas on the 4th of July. You had some idiots who actually were on boats, shooting off rockets and crap, with it falling down on other boats. Boats with bimini tops made of canvas everywhere and loaded up with hundreds of gallons of gasolin e. Even if it didn't set the boat on fire, those burning embers could burn a hole and ruin a canvas.

There was a great picture of a boat storage facility, the rack type where they put smaller boats in with a fork lift, stacking them 4 high, where the whole thing went up from fireworks taking like 75 boats with it.

Sadly there are a lot of really dumb jerks around. And your neighbor probably has a grudge against you and thinks you're the idiot.

On the 4th, an otherwise good neighbor several doors down started shooting off these huge starburst types landing all over the neighborhood, and in particular in my back yard and roof. I've never complained to any neighbor in 20+ years about anything until now. But I was getting live embers falling all over the bone dry property and it scared the bejeezus out of me. Had to cancel a trip to watch a fireworks show and spend the next 3 hours in the backyard hosing down the roof, furniture, dry brush, etc., etc...

After a 1/2-inch size live ember landed in some dry brush, I went over and asked him to stop shooting over this way. He said it wasn't him, so I went back home. Next shot, I could see clearly it was coming from his year....

I asked him 2 more times and wasn't getting anywhere. Meanwhile, we had to cancel a trip to a fireworks show to stay home and keep a lookout.

Finally had to call the fuzz. Three hours later, they came but didn't want to "start a neighborhood feud." I had to keep asking them to knock on the door and tell him to knock it off. But they didn't like to "knock on doors if all the lights were out." Finally, I told them I'll go knock on the door if you will say something to them. They didn't like that, but said for me to stay at home, and they wood. He denied it again, and they gave him a warning -- the fine is $5K.

A warning was all I wanted -- just so he would be more careful next year.

Next morning I picked up several 1-inch diameter x 1/4-inch thick unexploded loads off of the roof, cars, tarps, and plastic patio tables, etc.....

The worst part is that I have had to listen to the lovely Mrs. telling me over and over for 5 days how "I" didn't stop the fireworks.

You just can't win, I tell you! LOL!!

Hi, Sorry to hear that. Good nothing serious happened. In my city selling or using FW is against bylaw.

Very good idea. The fire department is very tough in Balltimore City. (I have no experience in Baltimore County wrt rule enforcement.) They won't even allow a little fire in the back yard, much less a bonfire in a biggg back yard when it's not the dry season (Actually there is no dry season here afaict. It's not the topics but it rains an inch or more every month.)

The role of the police is mostly to prevent people from hitting each other. Or shooting each other. The way I see it, it's not to enforce the law, except for traffic laws.

The role of the court system is mostly to drag things out so people aren't so angry anymore by the time they lose in court.

At least that's the way it's turned out.

The fire dept. otoh seems very interested in preventing fires. Maybe in part because that's easier than risking their lives fighting them.

Mine too, but you can't tell it.

I have a boat, and a couple of flare guns. The flares have an expiration date, so you have to have current flares. But the old ones will still work. Those skyrockets can't be aimed, unless you're really dumb. The flare gun can be aimed, at his stockpile is best.

Talking to neighbors before calling the police simply lets them know who reported them.
