Arkansas solved the small town speed trap problem with a law that limited the percentage of a town's budget that could be provided by traffic fines . I heard the same thing , and also that some places have thicker pavement to handle the loads of fuel and ordnance trucks . Overpasses provide cover and some degree of protection from attack .

I got stopped in Findlay OH back in the days when the used credit card imprinters. The cop had one it the back seat. Righteous stop since I was a bit more than 5 above.

In a lot of the country you'd have to go out of your way not to have a straight stretch for miles and miles.

It turns out this company has "branches" in 47 cities, including Baltimore and Hollywood Florida. This must mean that they made an arrangement with the company I found online a few months ago, which now advertises only 4 fancy cars and I'll bet the same staff handles the cars for Prestige, above.

I wonder if there isa separate charge for shipping the car to the city you want, or if it's included. They no longer offer 2 and 4 hour rentals, only a minimmum of one day, so maybe delivery is included.

I have seen a couple of the fancy 3-wheelers on the street near t he beach in Hollywood Fl.

Same cars in all these cities afaict. Atlanta, GA Atlantic City, NJ Augusta, GA Baltimore, MD Boca Raton, FL Boston, MA Bradenton, FL Bronx, NY Brooklyn, NY Charleston, SC Clearwater, FL Daytona Beach, FL Fort Lauderdale Airport, FL Fort Lauderdale, FL Fort Myers, FL Fort Pierce, FL Hilton head, SC Hollywood, FL Jacksonville, FL Jersey City, NJ Key West, FL Lake Buena Vista, Fl Miami Beach, FL Miami International Airport, FL Miami, FL Naples, FL Nashville, TN New York, NY Newark, NJ Orlando, FL Palm Harbor, FL Panama City, FL Philadelphia, PA Pompano Beach, FL Queens, NY Sarasota, FL Savannah, GA St. Petersburg, FL Staten Island, NY Tallahassee, FL Tampa, FL Tavares, FL The Hamptons, NY Trenton, NJ Washington, D.C West Palm Beach, FL

The big thing was to allow quick transport of military goods across the country and provide emergency access to all populated areas for civil defence.

A half hour is barely enough time to get from the rental place to the girl you're trying to impress and back. Better to rent for the whole day, tell her it's *your* car and that it was wrecked 2 days later while you were racing it.

I was only moderately** speeding in Chicago in 1969, and because I had an Indiana drivers license I had to post $50 bond (which would be about

400 today) and I didn't have it, so i had to stay in jail until a friend came when she got off work at 5, 5 hours later. I had my own cell. Didn't have to be anyone's boyfriend.

After this, for 30 years I carried $60 in travelers checks in the trunk of the car, though i don't know if they would accept travelers checks. (But I figure someone would give me 50 for 60 in checks)

(although my top was down and my long hair blowing in the breeze)

Some of those cars would be fun for a day but I'm not dropping $500 to $1500 to get my jollies. Plenty of other fun things to do.
