OT: Electric car batteries

Lowering a car doesn't usually make it handle better - the car was designed a certain way, and if you change only one or two aspects of that design, they no longer match.

Nope, someone with economic sense. Look up figures on the loss due to depreciation of a new car. You should buy your car from 3-6 years old. Old enough to be a fraction of the price, new enough not to break down.

Nothing is going to make much difference when you're driving a '67 Humber Super Snipe.

Decent looking and good performance but the same problem. Other than a commuter or an urban bar hopper, they just don't have the range. At $10-$15K they are more competitive with standard bikes than electric cars. The cheaper electric cars don't have the range and the ones with minimally acceptable range are up in the $50-$70K range.

If I lived in an urban area they might be interesting. I'm sure the neighbors would prefer a whirrrrr to the Harley firing up.

It's all just people making noise about nothing. There's no real substance to being iin the EU as far as trade is concerned. Are you on Ontario Hydro? I guess their little experiment with nukes didn't work well. I don't have a bill handy but most of my monthly bills are the flat rate charges that outweigh the actual usage except int the winter when I use some electric heat.

The oldest vehicle I ever drove was a 1988 Range Rover 3.5 litre V8. It ran on propane gas, when it felt like it. And sometimes backfired with enough volume to wake 3 blocks.

The only bike I haven't messed with yet is the V-Strom that does pretty well out of the box. I've got RaceTechs in the Sporty and Ricors in the DR. Both get the job done but the Ricors don't require drilling out the damper tube holes. The 15" shocks on the Sporty and the forks move up about an inch in the triple trees gives it a rather odd stance. I don't have to worry about it blowing over when it's on the kickstand. Trading the Dunrocks for real tires helped too. I do have to say those stock Dunlops got more miles than any bike tire I ever ran. I got 15K on the rear that's two or three times better than usual.

Except there are so many different battery technologies - unlike fuel gasses, which are NOT compatible with one another or their charging systems - so you can NOT compare gas cyls to batteries.

On Ontario Hydro - and the Nukes work just fine. It's just all the financial stupidity involved with a state run enterprise, combined with a virtual monopoly and too many British engineers.

Stupidity like paying ridiculous sallaries to embiciles to run the corporation, then paying them multi-million dollar severances to get rid of them when they screw up. And things like paying 6 or 8 times the retail rate for solar generated power that we can't use - and paying the eastern states to take it off our hands. And things like politicians dismantling and cancelling natural gas "peak" stations to get votes in the provincial election - at hundreds of millions of dollars in cost.
