Good. They can be the guinea pigs.

Israel has two things going for it. Small size compared to US and CA. The other is a well organized government. There were elaborate plants to distribute to state and county locations but little plan to get it to the people. The cold storage is a problem but not insurmountable if yu have the supply chain going and move out inventory to make space for the next shipment.

People should have been trained and ready to give shots. It is not that difficult. Teams of two or three to get the paperwork, give the shot, make next appointment.

The problem is not the people who can give a shot, it is coming up with the vaccine. There is a person in damn near every grocery store, drug store or big box that can give a shot. I heard tonight they are starting to have Publix (supermarket) do vaccinations here in Florida. There is one about every 3 miles on the main roads around here. Add in Walmart, Walgreens, Rite Aide, CVS and all the big grocery stores, you have a lot of locations. Once the manufacturers can ramp up the vaccine. It can go pretty fast.

For now, it is only 3 Publix. One of the problems is storage of the Pfizer vaccine. Most are not equipped for that. My county will schedule more when they know when the next batch will arrive. I came close but did not get an appointment since I was competing with 100k others for the slots. Missed by seconds.

That sets the precedent and private pharmacies have the best chance of reaching out to the millions here who want the vaccine. If they use the moderna vaccine, they have the capability to store it.

Makes sense, of course, but how many doses are there? IIRC the upcoming J&J is even better with storage and that is going to be used in counties that do not have the facilities to ship and store at low temperatures.

My county is capable of scheduling and administering but they don't know when the next doses will be available. They should. The two big suppliers know what they can make and where they can go. It is not a big deal and I'm willing to use my 50 years experience in production to help if needed.

That will be a problem, but it sseems in the US they** have to be licensed to give particular shots (**as opposed to RNs and some others). That might be as simple as getting a couple words added to a current license, but it takes at least some advance effort.

There is probably a slightly different procedure for differeent vaccines.

They are already doing it in a pilot program in a couple of rural counties so it can be done. These are licensed pharmacists who get almost as much training as a doctor, focused on the drugs, not the other things doctors do. These days if they aren't a surgeon, the doctors are mostly drug pushers anyway.

I've been watching the real life crime shows. One is Forensic Files. Detectives solve years old murders in that one. Sometimes they have nothing but a skeleton at the start. Another is The First Forty Eight. The chances of solving a murder case drop a lot if a suspect isn't pinpointed within the first couple days. Cameras follow the detectives around as they investigate. Atlanta detectives are sneaky people. They find all the evidence they can, then get a suspect in an interrogation room. They lay out the evidence to the suspect then give him a chance to tell his side. We're your buddies and would like to help you, they say.

Basically once they have worked their way through the family, friends and people who owe the victim money, they are stumped. They sit around and wait for a tip. In some cities, like Baltimore, about half of the murders are never solved. "Nobody saw nuffin".

I watch both those shows. Nice when a killer gets caught quickly but I really like when a 10 or 15 year old murder is finally solved. I can just imagine the SOB thinks he got away with it and years later, there is a knock at the door. Oh s*it!

I guess those ghetto rats in Baltimore are smarter than that because they don't get caught that easily.

Color may be a factor but a drug dealer is still a drug dealer. Do I feel bad that he got killed in a bad deal? Not as much as a robbery victim. Guess where my efforts will mostly go.

The problem is they are not much more successful when it is a "citizen" killed in these "skirmishes". The murders that get solved are when family or friends kill each other and in a lot of cases they get a confession right away. "Who done its" not so much.
