In fact those studies don?t in fact show anything of the kind with infection by omicron in those who have actually had a booster, essentially because omicron hasn?t been around long enough yet to actually be around enough who have had the booster.

Omicron has been around long enough that there should be plenty of data, if they want to look for it. In the US 3% of cases are Omicron now, in NJ it's 13%. That's a lot of people and boosters have been going on for months. But I think you're right, the good news about the Pfizer and Moderna boosters is based on lab tests for antibody response levels, not actual case data, AFAIK.

But there isn't the data on the booster history with those who have now got infected with omicron.

It is a fact that when you are admitted to a hospital they test you for covid, using the rapid test (that has a high false positive rate) and if you get a positive result, you are "isolated with covid" no matter why you went there including tire tracks on your face. That number gets rolled up into the "hospitalized with covid" number.

What the news wants to do with that number is up to them.

I would hope they keep you away from infecting others, even if you have tire tracks on your face. You are still a covid patient at that point.
