MY Whirlpool Washing Machine problem

Jul 06, 2008 2 Replies

I have a Whirlpool machine, 29 years old, so it's all electro- mechanical.

For the first time ever, I think, I used the gentle cycle a couple days ago. Now it won't agitate or drain, in any of the three cycles, normal, sta-press, gentle.

I presume this is just one of the two solenoids, but is there anything I can do;, I can bang, to get the thing to go back to the normal position without having to drag the machine from the wall?

I haven't siphoned out the water yet. How long will the porcelain finish last if it stays under water?

Check to see if the drive belt is in place and not slipping. Not familiar with your model, but perhaps the front panel comes off so you can check it out. If you see a solenoid, give that a tap too.

The porcelain though, will last about forever. At 29 years, it may be time to shop around for a new one.

No, the front doesn't come off. I can see how that would be a nice feature. :)

That's good. I guess I'll work on it tomorrow though.

Thanks for the help.
