Maytag Performa Washing Machine - PUMP??

Jun 08, 2011 3 Replies

We have a Maytag Performa washing machine model PAV2300AWW revision 12 s/n 12566485YU. It sounds like the pump is going/gone. When draining it rattles/knocks like an engine with a bad rod bearing. Wifey said it stopped today but she messed with the control and got it to drain. Anyone know how to diagnose and change the pump?

Coins or other items may have landed in the pump. You might open it up and look.

Repairclinic .com is a first choice for many appliance problems.

It was the pump. The shim between the shaft and pulley was coming out and scraping on the pump body. Sounded bad. This machine has a removable panel on the rear of the unit that allows access to the pump (it's in the rear of the machine). To change it again would be a 30 minute job. Got the pump at Adam The Answerman (great appliance repair shop in Dallas) for $70 and got-r-dun. Thanks to the group - HDK
