Last words of Uncle Monster (William Lassiter)?

The only way to put pressure on a corporation is at its bottom line. Neither the media nor the Democratic party can directly affect that.

Consumers are unlikely to, given that they generally take what their doctor prescribes.

That leaves the government, but the current government just wants to exclude brown people from the country and feather its own nest.

(I'm not saying we should let every single brown person into the country, but excluding them seems to be the overriding obsession of the current Executive branch.)

Paper work is also a serious problem. Ted Kennedy was rumored to have said it took up to 40% of our medical cost. Woman from the UK told me you do not see any paperwork after treatment.

Another serious problem is legal liability which is higher in the US.

Single payer is not the solution for the US because other dramatic changes would be necessary and legislators would not want to offend voters that include insurance companies, lawyers and doctors. The US government is not known for getting deeply involved with something without costs skyrocketing.

Then you need your nose detected, bad.

Prove what ? That most waiting for someone to take a blood sample are older people ?

That I didn't pay a cent for an angiogram or the stent in the state capital after being flown there in an air ambulance King Air ? Not possible to prove even if you could see my entire financial history and cant find me paying for anything like that. I did pay for one newspaper to have something to read but that was paid in cash. No way for you to see the cellphone records of where I was at the time although that would certain show my phone moving where I said I had moved. They wont let you see my medical records either, can't imagine why for the life of me.

Yeah, I'd believe that.

Yeah, we don’t either unless you want to claim it on your private health insurance. I don’t bother to have any, use the govt single payer system and that worked fine even when the system had to fly me to the state capital in a King Air air ambulance after the heart attack for an angiogram and stent.

The only thing I had to pay for was a newspaper to read. The TVs per bed were free.

I'm not convinced. Medicare for all would work fine and would be much cheaper than the current abortion. The only other first or second world system stupid enough to have an insurance system instead of single payer is also the second most expensive after the USA.

Everyone else did when they changed to single payer.

That hasn’t happened with medicare or the vet system.

Reading my Medicare statements is enlightening. The hospital says 'That procedure cost $7500.' Medicare says 'We'll give you $1600.' The hospitals says 'Okay.'

I've been fortunate not to need big ticket stuff but so far I don't remember paying more than $100 out of pocket.

He gives them a lot to obsess about. But his narcissism won't let him stop.

Granted. But doctors generally won't prescribe drugs that the patient's insurance won't cover, unless there's a compelling reason.

No argument there. They do seem a lot more concerned about brown illegals than yellow illegals.

The Executive branch takes the actions. Last time I looked, it was in the hands of the Republicans.

People who can make a positive contribution to our society.

Gee Wiz! You are saying something that should not need saying, but does.

Good and evil that the two of us see is replaced with revolutionary and counter revolutionary. What serves their cause is good; what does not is evil. The end justifies the means.

Brazil had close to 400 billion dollars in reserves at the time of the coup. It was a creditor to the IMF. No idea what the number is now, Bolsonaro has put it in "segredo de estado". (state secret). No Brazilian media can reveal the number, even if someone leaks it. []'s

No so much the doctor as the platoon of people he has to hire to do it.

My doctor doesn't make anything from his practice: it all is consumed by expenses.

Who do you think is paying for it?

A former doctor in a group practice with 3 others had one clerk on their staff just to deal with insurance issues. He would not see you if you had a car accident because car insurance was tough to deal with. I'm dealing with the car insurance people now and they are a PITA.

Eye doctor told me he has troubles with companies too. People tell him they have Blue Cross, for example, not realizing that there are several kinds of policies a company may issue and some will or will not pay for a procedure.

About 20 years ago my wife was in the hospital. She was seeing an A Smith doctor, but somehow B Smith got paid by the insurance. Neither of the billing companies were even in the same state. I thought I had it streightened out several times, then got a call from a collection agency. I was so mad I told him to stick it where the sun did not shine. He told me it could mess up my credit. I told him I had just taken out a home like of credit for $ 100 K (was going to use that from

2 houses I owned to buy another) and he could go f*ck himself. Only credit outside of credit cards I pay off each month is a car I bought new about 2 years ago that had 0% interist. Now my credit score is just over 800. Not sure what ever hapened to that $ 300 doctor bill.

I have a beautiful suspension bridge spanning the Straits of Mackinac between the Upper and Lower Peninsulas of Michigan and I'm thinking of selling it.  It has a nice toll income.

You won't find a deal like this on Zillow.  Are you interested?

Don't know, but your insurance premium may go down. Medical offices spend a lot of money on billing. Insurance companies have a lot of control over how much they pay for the services you get.

Socialism: the EXTREME RICH and the EXTREME POOR.

Close comrade, but still tainted by your communist views.

"break up private monopolies or price fixing/lockouts" is the job of all governments.

The Socialists toilets you refer to know not to introduce too much socialism as to kill the geese that lays the eggs. And they do a hell of a lot more than break up monopolies. They raid the public treasure to feather the nests of their friends.

Socialism and corruptions are inseparable. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer. What? Not what your communist handbook says? Hmmmmm. Just the reality of what actually happens.
