Of course. Doctors are paid for their time, their experience, the hours they spend studying, their dedication to the patient, not for results. Only in truly communist countries doctors were paid for results (they would receive according to the amount of people assigned to them they managed to keep alive). I suppose a brain surgeon who only takes on "lost cause" cases, because he's the "best of the best" should not receive anything, because 99% of his patients die ? Think before posting. []'s

We'll see how well it works with the North Sea patch in decline. Shall we talk about the elephant in the room? First, Norway has a population a little over 5 million, not 330 million or whatever today's count is.

What is the makeup? Over 90% European. Diversity in Norway means Swedes and Poles.

You might want to look at Erna Solberg's government too. The initial coalition in 2013 was the Conservative and Progress parties, both center right. The Liberal and Christian Democrats joined in formally last year. Both are center to center right.

Labour might still be the largest party but they're bleeding seats and barely scraped together the Red-Green coalition.

In fact, the government of Norway has been center right since 2013 when Labour couldn't hammer together a coalition. Parliamentary politics are a lot more interesting than the US system of two virtually identical parties.

Capitalism does not include ethics. it's an economic system and value neutral. Whether individual capitalists have personal ethics is debatable.

Certainly we do. I was amused to get birthday greetings today from a list I'd signed on to. For the record, my wife's birthday is May 4; mine sure as hell isn't.

The irony is back in that day I had 12 year olds in my eight grade class. If there is a job that sucks even more than being a soldier it's being a eighth grade teacher. Soldiers do get to blow things up and shoot the enemy every now and then.

OMG, Amerikans call Venezuela a socialist state. The legitimate government there (Maduro) is less "socialist" than the US. Just check how much of the Federal taxes there go to social budgets. (Education, Health, Security, Labor etc) and compare. []'s

He might have to pay larger % of taxes on his income or inheritance, but that's fair. Under a socialist regime, if you work harder or better, you are entitled to a larger income.

No, that's socialism. Communists would OWN anything you have, so there would be no way to "donate" it. Under communism, everything belongs to the State. There is no private property.

Plenty of other countries with populations that low havent chosen to have the govt do their oil and gas and power generation and have got a much worse result for the population. The claim that no socialism works anywhere is just plain silly.

Socialism works well even in the USA too, most obviously with what the US Corps of Engineers do in the river systems and the national highway network etc too. And the national highway network was actually socialism done by the repugs, Ike.
