Florida Housing

I imagine houses are built a lot tougher than the ones here in Nebraska. The news people are saying the storm is as wide as the Florida peninsula. We get tornadoes but the chance of one hitting x spot is low.

Former DIL just bought a house in Tampa. I think code in Florida has roofs anchored on but they are anticipating tornado type winds.

The far larger problem in Tampa will be the storm surge. 12-18 feet of water will submerge many of the coastal neighborhoods.

Clearwater, st petes, fort meyers will have significant damage.

Building code in recent years is 150 mph wind resistance. I covered some of my windows with the steel shutters provided by the builder.

Expecting storm surge and lots of rain so flooding it more of a problem. Many areas are evacuated. All mobile homes are required to evacuate no matter where they are.

It must be awful to cleanup. Tornadoes leave behind wrecked buildings. I picture overwhelmed sewage treatment plants and whatever the ocean leaves behind.
