BTW, I don't know if google claims to use AI to search with, or to extract those Q&A at the start of many search results. It seems to me they do, so to see the limits of AI, enter the first line above in a google search box.
AFAIK real artificial intelligence is not possible. But there are a lot of people with high tech jobs who seem to think it is. Is it one big Theranos conspiracy, mass halucination, or am I wrong? I see those three choices as equally likely.
I think all that is possible are long very detailed algorithms, but nothing I would call thinking or intelligence. Nothing approaching what a human can do, not even what a chimp can do (except we don't know what goes on in their heads) and maybe not even what a dog can do, if we knew more about what goes on in their heads.
I guess the idea is that the algorithms would improve themselves with experience? Is that it? What was the earlier system that did that, decades ago?
