cold water faucet handle turning the wrong way since repair

We have a dripping bathroom sink faucet which we repaired by replacing the stem and washer inside the cold water handle. This stops the dripping, however since this repair, turning handle clockwise turns water off, and turning it counterclockwise turns it on, (the way one would expect for the hot water faucet, but not the cold. ) The replacement stem/ washer product label says that it is for hot and cold stems, however it seems set up for the hot and I do not see any other way to insert it. Any tips or insights?

What brand and model? Some PFs are easy to dissassemble and reverse.

I assume you mean a cartridge valve:

Like it says, most go in two ways, 180 degrees apart.

IDK how you can assume it's a cartridge, when the poster clearly said stem and washer. Beyond that, IDK what's going on. I've bought replacement nylo n stems for angle stop supply valves, but not for sink faucets where there are hot and cold. The hot and cold should be opposites and I don't see how you could put the wrong one in, it wouldn't fit.

On second thought, maybe you could switch them? Maybe the faucet part is the same, all that determines the rotation direction is the stem and the st em cap that comes with it? Also the poster says that clockwise turns the c old off,but complains that isn't right? That's how mine work.

On some you need to remove a clup, turn half a turn and reinstall the clip.

What make daucet, and what part number replacement part?

If he's talking about a cartridge, they can go either way. Rotate it 180 degrees. I've got a faucet that turns the 'wrong' way but it never annoyed me enough to bother turning the water off and switching it.
