Since I carry these lights in my hunting packs, weight and size are important considerations.

I looked on Duracell web site. Figuring they both have three watt bulb, then two cells would run 1.0 amps, figuring that 3 watts = 3 volts x 1 amp.

Three cells is 3 watts = 4.5 volts x 0.66 amps. Even so, it's still not a LOT of difference of hours of service.

Does a mini mag serve your needs? Teralux has a one watt conversion bulb that is expensive, but I really love it. I carry and use mine, every day.

I would no want to have anything bigger than my pocket, except for checking buildings. They got 5 cells ?

It is absolutely impossible to draw 3 watts from 3 D-cells for 79 hours. There is no such magic D-cells.

There must be a trick. This flashlight must have two or three different power settings (I have a flashlight like that). The spec says max 79 hours but failed to mention "on low".

There is if you rub them on your magic underware. Or click his ruby slippers together.
