You really have a simple mind. The alternator does not "put the same voltage on the battery to charge it".

The regulator applies the maximum voltage from the alternator (after rectification) to the car battery and regulates the charging current. The car battery will accept the charging current and the internal chemistry in the car battery makes the car battery terminal voltage rise. The regulator is supposed to cut off the charging current when the car battery terminal voltage reaches a point that the regulator considers the car battery fully charged.

Please try to put this into your head: A charger must be a voltage much higher than the battery voltage. The charger is supposed to limit the charging current to a safe level for the battery so that the battery would not overheat or cause internal damage. Fast charging with excessive current will cause damage to the battery in the long run. Avoid fast charging the battery if you are not in a hurry. And avoid overcharging. Overcharging a 12V car battery will boil off the water in the electrolyte. Fast charging a lithium battery with excessive current or overcharging a lithium battery will cause bulging, and eventually battery fire.

The unit is watt-hour, birdbrain. The unit watt (W) is the instantaneous power input. Watt-hour (Wh) is the unit for the energy delivered in one hour. Either you really deliver that energy in one second, one month, or one year, that energy is still calculated to use the unit "watt-hour".

367.92 watt-hour excess charging in a lithium battery will will cause the same damage either over a day, a week, a month, or a year, you birdbrain British moron. It will cause the same damage through internal chemistry inside the lithium battery.

Not how mine works. I can see the voltage change. It puts 14.4V on the battery and the battery takes whatever current it wants. When it thinks the battery is nearly full, it drops to 13.8V trickle, causing the current to drop.

The alternator can only give out what it's capable of, which is not more than the battery can handle.

And no lead acid will charge too fast at 14.4V. You only need to watch the current at 15V super fast charge.

For your above claim to be true, the voltage of a Lithium battery must change with temperature. I find that hard to believe.

A battery is actually a perfect cell plus a resistor in series. That resistor obeys ohm's law. Eg. if you draw 1 amp from a battery, or 2 amps from a battery, the voltage drop will double.

There is no resistor inside a battery. A battery is a cathode and an anode, separated by electrolyte. The internal resistance of a battery is a hypothetical parameter. There is no real resistor inside.
