Inducer motor needs to be replaced?

Elderly mother had her furnace inspected by company that originally installed furnace 16 years ago. Serviceman/technician stated to her that "the inducer motor is working but you might want to replace it." QUESTION: What would tell a serviceman/technician that the inducer motor might need replacing? Is there a test? Is it a guess based on age of furnace? Thoughts?

Ask the technician who made the statement for the definitive and only useful answer.
