Miele upright vacuum cleaner s 7000 motor needs to be replaced is this hard to do, could I do this myself? (2023 Update)

When it runs noise level is very loud, and there is a smell of burning rubber. I took it to repair place and they say it needs a new motor. Is this something I could do myself?

I understand that you're asking about replacing the motor in your Miele S 7000 upright vacuum cleaner. Replacing the motor can be a challenging task, but if you have some DIY experience and are comfortable working with electrical appliances, it is possible to do it yourself. Here's what you need to know:

  • Safety first: Before attempting any repairs, make sure the vacuum cleaner is unplugged and that you have all the necessary tools and materials on hand.
  • Disassembling the vacuum cleaner: To access the motor, you'll need to disassemble the vacuum cleaner. This will likely involve removing screws and other fasteners, so make sure you have a good set of screwdrivers on hand.
  • Identifying the motor: Once you have the vacuum cleaner disassembled, locate the motor. It will be the component responsible for turning the brush roll and generating suction.
  • Removing the old motor: To remove the old motor, you'll need to disconnect any wires or hoses that are connected to it. Make sure you label these connections so that you can reattach them to the new motor later.
  • Installing the new motor: The new motor should come with instructions for installation. Follow these instructions carefully, and make sure that the motor is securely attached to the vacuum cleaner.
  • Reassembling the vacuum cleaner: Once the new motor is in place, reassemble the vacuum cleaner, making sure to tighten all screws and fasteners securely.
  • Testing the vacuum cleaner: Once the vacuum cleaner is reassembled, plug it in and turn it on. Listen for any unusual noises and check for any leaks or other problems. If everything is working properly, the vacuum cleaner should run quietly and smoothly.

Tools you'll need:

  • Screwdrivers
  • Pliers
  • Adjustable wrench
  • Electrical tape
