What are these bugs ?

Here in NJ in the afternoon or early evening, I can go in the backyard and see these small bugs, small like mosquitos or gnats, that fly around each other in a (2-foot diameter?) grouping that hovers about



4-5 feet above the ground. What are these ? Should they be left alone or otherwise ? Thanks.

Could be a number of the different "cousins" of the fungus gnats or midges just swarming about to breed. Doubt there is a concern unless where you see them has a moisture issue to correct.
