does anyone know why my apricots went like this this year? and how do i stop it ruining my crop next year?

Hard to tell from this picture. Looks like it hit when the apricot was not ripe. Could be some kind of fungus, like brown rot. You might try a sulfur spray or copper sulfide early in the growing season. Clean up all the bad fruit and get rid of it. This year was very wet in many places, possibly adding to this problem.
