Washing Machine Fault

May 31, 2005 3 Replies

Pal says his washing machine is throwing back water through the soap powder filler tray. Is this something simple to fix or should he call someone out? Its about three years old and he thinks it may be cheaper in the long run to get a new one.

Any advice much appreciated.

1 Take the drawer out check to see if there is no build up of soap...at the back. Give them a clean whilst your at it. 2 If this happens on the spin, the pump maybe be blocked or not working.

(remove spin for email)

Has he changed the water pressure in any way? Maybe had the machine out to clean behind it, and turned the valves on to high when it was replaced. Or work carried out on the plumbing anywhere else in the house?

Make sure the soap drawer isn't blocked by a built up of soap powder or fabric softener. Right in the back of the drawer is the worst for this to happen, just before the water leaves the drawer to enter the machine itself.
